Feeling romantic this month....
According to www.daysoftheyear.com (check them out for unusual and sometimes hilarious celebration days every day of the year) it’s Lost Penny Day today which is a good reminder that the small things in life can really add up and as it’s the most romantic month of the year (thanks St Valentine!) it’s a great time to think about what we can do for others.
If the small things can make a big difference to someone then it should be easy to make them feel special every day. Simply making your other half their favourite drink when they get home from work, taking them tea in bed or tidying up after yourself can all be appreciated. But what about small things that are not that obvious? Here’s how to be super romantic without even trying! Don’t thank me now…
10 ways to make your loved one feel really special
Throughout the year, make a note of things that they like, things they have seen or stumbled across that might make good birthday or Christmas presents - they will feel uber special if you have remembered something they saw in April when it comes to their Christmas present
Remembering shared meals out and then making a dish that they really loved at the time
Organising a surprise date night in the middle of the week
Pop a love note in their jacket pocket for them to find during the day
Flirt more! Its easy to forget to flirt with our other half, especially if you’ve been together for a while, make them feel sexy and you’ll feel closer
Simple but can be very much appreciated, is just asking them how their day was!
Following on from No.6, being a good listener can make them feel valued and that what they have to say is important to you.
Controversial in these times but how about sometimes letting them take the lead and not always being the strong and independent woman….hard for me to take my own advice as I'm a total and utter control freak!
Never take them for granted. Sounds simple but it’s so easy to fall into this trap after a while. We’ve all been there….
Give random, but authentic compliments. Even if it is just to tell them they have a nice bum!
Recipe for Valentines Day
How about treating them to this special pud…super easy to make but oh so delicious and it won't break the bank either...win win!
100g chopped plain chocolate
284ml double cream
1 tsp vanilla extract
Cherry compote or biscotti to serve (optional…just scoff them as they are if you like)
Melt the chocolate in a bowl over a pan of simmering water and stir until smooth. Add the cream and vanilla extract plus a pinch of salt and mix thoroughly. Divide between two ramekins or pretty cups, and chill for a couple of hours….yum!
